Brookshire's, Super One partner with youth

Corsicana — With the help of donations from the 2013 Brookshire’s Benefit Golf Tournament, Brookshire’s Grocery Company announced plans to contribute more than $70,000 to seven Boys & Girls Club organizations in select areas across Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Brookshire’s Grocery Company leaders on Monday presented a check to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Navarro County in Corsicana for $8,000.

“We are honored to give back to an organization that provides children with a safe place to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with adult professionals, and most importantly, hope and opportunity,” said BGC President and CEO Rick Rayford.

Other locations receiving donations included Shreveport, West Monroe and Lafayette, La., Greenville, Texas and Arkansas towns Pine Bluff and El Dorado.

For more than a century, Boys & Girls Clubs of America have sponsored young people to help develop their path to a brighter future.

Annually, Boys & Girls Clubs serve 4 million young people through membership and community outreach. There are over 4,000 Club facilities in locations across the nation. Their mission is to “enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.”

The 2013 Brookshire’s Benefit Golf Tournament raised $400,000 for more than 50 children’s charities. More than 500 golfers participated at five courses in the Tyler area.

Additionally, the tournament concluded with a silent auction where all proceeds benefited various charities.
