A benefit for Eddie Smith will be held at The Remington, 122 W. Third Ave., from 1 to 7 p.m. There will be live music by Faster Horses and Sissy Perry with Robert Horvath and the Groovetones. Live auction as well. Eddie Smith suffered a heart attack which resulted in being transported by air ambulance. He and his family are self-employed and have no health insurance. The Remington is acception donations for raffle/auction items and food to serve, as well as cash donations. An account is established at Chase Bank in the name of Smith Benefit.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Site open from 2 until 7 p.m. to assist the elderly and low income file their tax returns at the Corsicana YMCA. To schedule an appointment, call 281-682-0928.

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m. The general public is invited to attend.  Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.  For further information, please call 903-872-5072.

NARFE, National Association of Active/Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 1191, will hold its next monthly meeting at the Grand Ennis Buffet, 201 South I-45 in Ennis from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Debbie Tahiri, Mature Driver Program Coordinator, Hillcrest Regional Trauma Services, Waco, will be the guest speaker. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West 7th Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.
