A Navarro County man who was found guilty of continuous sexual assault of a child in a January trial was sentenced Friday to 99 years in prison.
Michael David Williams, 39, was found guilty Jan. 10 of continuous sexual assault of a child by a Navarro County jury. This was Williams’ second trial on the same charge. He was accused of repeatedly molesting a girl from the time she was five until about the time she turned 12.
Williams was originally indicted on the charge back in 2011, but when it went to trial the jury couldn’t agree on a verdict. He was re-indicted in 2012 and tried last month. He asked that the trial judge decide sentencing.
District Judge James Lagomarsino handed down the sentence of 99 years during a hearing on Friday in 13th District Court.
Williams is not eligible for parole, said R. Lowell Thompson, Navarro County District Attorney.
The case was tried by Assistant District Attorneys Amy Cadwell and Andrew Wolf, who are on the DA’s Special Victims team.
