Corsicana — A Saturday morning accident on northbound Interstate 45 has left one person dead and six others injured.
The accident occurred about 810 am Saturday near the 234 mile mark as a late model SUV was headed north, apparently lost control and rolled mutiple times before coming to a stop.
Sgt. Thomas Moore of the Texas Department of Public Safety said it appeared the vehicle may have lost control and its driver overcorrected to the right, then to the left, with the vehicle then beginning to roll. It jumped the cable barrier separating the north and south lanes of the Interstate, then came to a rest on its side, the front of the vehicle in the inside lane of the southbound Interstate. It was not struck by any oncoming traffic.
Moore said the injured and the deceased person were not believed to be from the Corsicana area.
Seven people were in the car according to the DPS. Three were ejected from the vehicle. Four of the injured were taken by air ambulance from the scene. Two others were taken by ground ambulance for treatment.
The identities of those involved have not yet been released.
We will post more details as they become available.
