Richland-Chambers to host ‘Big Bass Classic’

Event features $60,000 in cash, prizes for amateur anglers

Corsicana — Northshore Harbor on Richland Chambers Lake south of Corsicana is the official host location for the Kelly Jordon Big Bass Classic April 13 and 14, a part of the 2013 Oakley Big Bass Tour.

The Oakley Big Bass Tour is the nation’s premier bass fishing tournament series for amateur anglers.

Oakley selected Richland Chambers Lake as one of 10 stops on its 2013 Big Bass Tour because of the quality of the lake’s bass fishing. Richland Chambers Lake is the third largest lake in Texas and offers not only a fisherman’s paradise, but also tranquil lakeside living.

This first-year event at Richland Chambers Lake is expected to attract amateur anglers from throughout Texas and beyond to compete for more than $60,000 in cash and prizes to be awarded during the two-day event, including the grand prize of a 2013 Nitro Z7 bass boat valued at $30,000 to be given to the angler who catches the biggest bass overall.

“We are thrilled that the Oakley Big Bass Tour selected Northshore Harbor at Richland Chambers Lake as the host location for this national event with such a dedicated following,” said Bob Babik of Northshore Harbor. “This pristine lake is one of Texas’ quiet treasures that will now be on the national stage.  We are excited to be able to let not only people in Texas, but throughout the country know what an incredible community we have here.”

According to the Corsicana and Navarro County Chamber of Commerce, registration for the event will take place from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at Northshore Harbor. The tournament will follow an “hourly big bass” format, with hourly payouts from $1,000 for first place to $150 for fifth place offered, based on 400 entrants. Entry fees for the tournament are $100 for one day, and $150 for two days.

Local sponsors for the tournament include Northshore Harbor on Richland Chambers Lake, 106.9 The Ranch Radio, and Hampton Inn and Suites in Corsicana, the host hotel for the tournament.

For more information on the tournament, visit the tournament website, or call Paul Hooper at the Corsicana and Navarro County Chamber of Commerce at 903-874-4731.
