Anthony O’Keith Jordan’s request for a bond reduction from the current $150,000 was denied Friday afternoon by County Court at Law Judge Amanda Putman.
Jordan, 27, is accused of shooting another man June 23 near the 1000 block of East 12th Avenue, following an alleged disagreement outside a nearby residence.
A 43-year-old man was shot in the hip after shots were fired into the crowd. Jordan was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Last week, Jordan’s attorney asked that the bond be reduced so Jordan could get out of jail while awaiting the next steps in the legal process.
“Because of the nature of the offense, because someone was shot and there was a crowd of people around when the gun was discharged, we argued that bond should not be reduced,” explained District Attorney Lowell Thompson. “And the judge denied the bond reduction.”
The charge against Jordan will be presented to the grand jury on July 18.
