Westside Baptist Church will have its Fifth Sunday Gospel Singing Celebration at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29. The program of southern gospel music will feature the well-known quartet Southern Joy. The quartet has been singing together for many years and have blessed and brought joy to the hearts of those who have heard them. The fact is, southern gospel quartet music doesn’t get any better than Southern Joy! The public is invited to attend the program and southern style fellowship immediately following the service. The Women Of Glory Ministry will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at the Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church located at 400 South 15th Street where Alvin E. Smith serves as Pastor. Olive Grove Baptist Church, Blooming Grove, is celebrating its Annual Homecoming Service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22. There will be only morning service and dinner will be served afterward. The Grace Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, 402 East 14th Avenue, and family will be celebrating its Choir and Usher Annual. The choir, under the leadership of Brother B. J. Missionary Baptist Church, 405 S. 15th Street, Corsicana. A wonderful time was had by all who attended the Family Back to School Party last Saturday on the church grounds. It was a fun kickoff to the new school year. Two upcoming events are scheduled for the next few weeks. The church body will observe the ordinance of the Lord's supper on Sept. 29 and the quarterly Youth Led Worship Service is planned for Oct. 6. The youth have done a great job leading this quarterly scheduled event. A change from the regularly scheduled Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and Morning and Afternoon Worship times of 10:50 a.m. and 4 p.m. will occur on Oct. 6. Lunch will be served at the Fellowship Hall immediately after the Youth Led Morning Worship followed by a “You Pick the Song” service about 1:15 p.m. that will take the place of the 4 p.m. service that week only. The Adult Bible Study and Youth activities continue each Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. The Youth Directors are anticipating a soon return to the Friday Night Fun Night in a couple of weeks cooler weather permitting. Divorce Care began Sunday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 510 W. Collin. Divorce Care is a support group that meets for 12 weeks. The cost is $15 for the workbook and child care is provided. The group is led by people who have been through divorce and successfully rebuilt their lives. This group is led by Chuck McElroy. Bethel A.M.E. Church is pleased to announce the return of its Pastor and Wife, Rev. Willie L. and Mrs. June Greene after attending the Northwest Texas annual conference in Killeen. Licentiate Pamela Colbert has been promoted to the next level to become an ordained minister of the A.M.E. church which will take place at next year’s Annual conference at Joshua Chapel in Waxahachie. Congratulations to her! Bethel’s “Member of the Year” went to Eric Jimerson of the Young People’s Dept. Delegate Penny Liggins represented the church well, attending all meetings and being elected an officer of the “Missionary Society” as assistant secretary on the conference level.
