Corsicana — Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance will hold its Fourth Sunday night fellowship at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, Bishop K.D. Davis, Pastor, 125 S. Fifth St., Corsicana. Elder Gary Moore, Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker, President Dairy Johnson, Sr. IDMA, The public is invited to come and worship in this experience.

Olive Grove Baptist Church, Blooming Grove, is celebrating its Annual Homecoming Service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22. There will be only morning service and dinner will be served afterward. The attire is “old fashioned dress,” (which can mean overalls, jeans, or comfortable clothing). Rev. Curtis Johnson will bring the morning message. The theme is “Hold on to your Faith,” from Heb. 11:6. Come prepared to have a good time in the Lord.

Love Chapel Baptist Church located at 400 North Benton Street where David E. Wilson serves as Pastor and Sharron D. Wilson will observe their Usher Annual at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013.  Hopewell Baptist Church of Dawson will be our guest church and the spoken word will be brought by  Rev. Monroe L. Allen who serves as Pastor. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.  Evangelist Sandra Pitts serves as President of the Usher Ministry.

The Grace Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, 402 East 14th Avenue, and family will be celebrating its Choir and Usher Annual. The choir, under the leadership of Brother B. J. Deeds, Jr. helps set the tone for the worship service by singing praises to Almighty God and preparing the congregation for the word to be spoken by the pastors. The ushers under the leadership of Brother Marshall Deeds are at their posts each Sunday, acting as doorkeepers in the house of the Lord. Please come out and worship with us Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at 3 p.m. The speaker of the hour will be the Rev. Clyde Chambers of the 13th Avenue Christian Church. Brother B. J. Deeds, Jr., chairman; Brother Marshall Deed, co-chairman. Grace Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church is pleased to welcome back its pastors, Reverends Michael and Joann Donaldson after the annual conference this past week. The Donaldsons came back with information from the conference for the membership and a renewed zeal to do the work of God. The membership is ready to work with the pastors in the spreading of the gospel. Please come by and help us welcome the Donaldsons back to Grace Temple.

  • City cancels ambulance contract with county

    The City of Corsicana has notified Navarro County officials it is cancelling its agreement with the county to provide EMS ambulance service to areas outside the city limits. According to a letter sent to county officials by Corsicana Mayor Chuck McClanahan, ambulance service to county residents will end on Jan. 31, 2015.

    The project to rebuild Seventh Avenue or Highway 31 as it goes through Corsicana is almost over. From an uneven patchwork of paving and pitted concrete, now it’s a smooth ride from Beaton all the way through town.
    It just took an extra year to finish.
