The Pearce Museum at Navarro College in Corsicana will host its annual Fall Welcome Back Party and New Volunteer Orientation at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Cook Center Atrium.
The Pearce Museum has the best volunteer corps any non-profit organization could ask for. After a summer full of vacations and family visits, everyone is encouraged to join us to catch up on what’s happening at the museum and prepare for the next year’s events.
New volunteers are needed, too. Individuals may choose one or more of the following areas in which to devote their time: welcome guests and provide tours on a weekly schedule, edit Civil War letters and documents, scan documents and photographs, help with special events and hospitality, help provide educational programs for school groups, help install exhibitions, and participate in a major indexing project to “open doors” for scholarly research in the Civil War collection.
The Pearce Museum is looking for people who love to interact with others and have an interest in history, art, or education. They offer training, flexible hours, a comfortable fun environment, and for college students, experience that can be listed on scholarships or job applications (prospective volunteers must be at least 17 years old.) This is a great opportunity for anyone, of any age, to participate and become part of a close-knit group.
Coffee and delicious warm desserts will be provided and the community is invited.
Please RSVP by Tuesday, Oct. 15 by contacting Melinda Chew, volunteer coordinator, at (903) 875-7420, or Melinda.email@example.com.
