Chamber, college team for career expo

Corsicana — Business, industry and education come together Thursday at the Navarro College Special Event Center for the annual Career Expo, sponsored by the Corsicana and Navarro County Chamber of Commerce and Navarro College.

The event is taking place from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the college’s Corsicana campus.

Students from more than 25 high schools in the Navarro College service area are expected to participate in the Career Expo to learn more about job and educational opportunities that await them.

In addition to booths and displays from businesses and industry, the high school students will also have the opportunity to learn about educational opportunities available through Navarro College. In addition to degree programs, Navarro College offers a wide variety of career and technical training programs that are available.

Businesses and organizations taking part in the Career Expo include the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office, Texas A&M University-Commerce, John Deere, PHI, MPower Texas, Lincoln Electric, Corsicana Welding, VLP, Nucor, Guardian Industries, ShaleNet, HKI Terminal, and Kimray.

College programs and departments to be represented Thursday include recruiting, fire and police academies, criminal justice, cosmetology, welding, massage therapy, petroleum technology and child development.

Dr. Barbara Kavalier, college district president, well welcome students to the event at 10 a.m. Thursday.
