Corsicana — American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St., Corsicana. In addition to helping save a life by giving blood, the Red Cross is also asking for donations of new winter clothing, such as sweatshirts and sweatpants, which are included on response vehicles when responding to house fires and disasters during cold fall and winter months.

Nov. 8

The Navarro County Retired Teachers will meet at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 Northwest Ave. The program will be presented by Jean O’Connor, representing Angels of Corsicana Troop Support. Members of RTA are asked to bring the following items to be sent to the troops for Christmas: white or black crew socks, dried fruit snacks, breakfast or energy bars, hard candies individually wrapped, popcorn, individual coffee and tea packs, chocolate bars, hand/foot warmers, motel size hygiene items, foot or baby powder (trial sized), small packs of batteries, handy wipes, decks of playing cards, jerky, assorted snacks, soups, pens, pencils, small flashlights, toothpaste and toothbrush, hair comb and brush, nail clippers, or money for postage. Any items you can bring will be appreciated.

Nov. 9

Blooming Grove High School student council will hold its first annual Turkey Trot 5K fun run at 10 a.m. at Blooming Grove High School on the cross country course behind the new gym. Pre-registration is Oct. 30 to Nov. 6. Participants can also register on race day from 9 to 10 a.m. Registration is $15, and prizes will be awarded.
