— Filing for the 2014 March Primary Election got underway Saturday, with all but two of Navarro County’s Republican incumbents signing up for another term on the first day. Frank Steed, chairman of the Republican Party of Navarro County, said the remaining two up for election will sign up to run again.

County Judge H.M. Davenport Jr., Pct. 4 Commissioner James Olsen, District Attorney R. Lowell Thompson, County Clerk Sherry Dowd, County Treasurer Frank Hull, District Clerk Josh Tackett, and Justices of the Peace Vicki Gray, Kirby Hill and Jackie Freeland were all on hand for an event held Saturday at the GOP headquarters in Corsicana. Pct. 2 Commissioner Dick Martin and Pct. 4 JP Connie Hickman were out of town and not at Saturday’s event, but have appointments to file their paperwork on their return, Steed said.

Steed has also filed for another term as the Navarro County Republican Party Chairman.

“We are thrilled that all of our Navarro County elected Republican officials are candidates in our March 4th Primary” said Steed.

The Navarro County Democratic Party chairman did not report any first day filings to the Daily Sun.
