Intercessors For Navarro County Men's Prayer Breakfast will meet at Navarro College at Lone Star Room in the cafeteria at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday mornings. Open Bible Study is held every Thursday morning at the Senior Activity Center, with singing beginning at 10 a.m. Bible Study is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Fred Biltz at (903) 654-4980.

First Baptist Church of Eureka Women's Conference at FBC Eureka. Send us your mailing address or email and we will get your registration or vendor form in the mail. Early registration is strongly encouraged as seats will fill up fast. Northside Baptist Church offers Grief Share, a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close. Grief Share is non-denominational and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. A 13-week course begins Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Northside Baptist Church. The meeting will be in the white house across the street from Northside, 222 Forest Lane beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. You will have the opportunity to interact with others who have experienced a loss, learn from their experiences and share your own.   • City cancels ambulance contract with county

    The City of Corsicana has notified Navarro County officials it is cancelling its agreement with the county to provide EMS ambulance service to areas outside the city limits. According to a letter sent to county officials by Corsicana Mayor Chuck McClanahan, ambulance service to county residents will end on Jan. 31, 2015.

    The project to rebuild Seventh Avenue or Highway 31 as it goes through Corsicana is almost over. From an uneven patchwork of paving and pitted concrete, now it’s a smooth ride from Beaton all the way through town.
    It just took an extra year to finish.

    An attempt to bootleg electricity off a pole using jumper cables is believed to have caused a building fire that took out a former restaurant in Angus Friday morning, one of a series of calls to Navarro County Sheriff’s Office to the southern end of the county over the weekend.
