Name the Water Park Contest to debut at Derrick Days

Corsicana — One lucky person could win season passes for the whole family and other exciting prizes if their entry is chosen in the Derrick Days “Name the Water Park Contest.”

Saturday's Derrick Days activities will kick off a three month contest to search the community for a creative name for the Corsicana Water and Adventure Park, being built at the busy I-45/Highway 287 intersection. The park is slated to open in the spring/summer of 2015.

Leisure and Recreation Concepts, the developers of the park will have a booth at Derrick Days in downtown Corsicana on Saturday where entries can be submitted.

"Regional attractions are all about the community; we thought it would be important to ask the community what the name should be,” said Michael Jenkins, president of Leisure and Recreation Concepts, Inc., and developer of the site,

The company will ultimately pick the name for the park. If the name is not picked from the contest entries, all entries will be entered into a drawing for the prizes. In addition to entering at the Derrick Days booth, entries can also be submitted via e-mail to wjenkins@larcinc.com.

Prizes will be awarded to winners the weekend of Aug. 1.
