Kerens School Superintendent Kevin Stanford said grief counselors will be at the Kerens Middle School Wednesday following the death of an eighth grader at his home Tuesday.
“I am very sad to inform you that we recently learned that an eighth grade student passed away at his home this afternoon,” Stanford said in a press release Tuesday afternoon.
“At this time we are not releasing the name of the student out of respect to the privacy of the parents. Our focus now is to meet the needs of our students on campus. We are enlisting the assistance of area counselors and ministers to help our students to deal with this difficult situation. Be assured that we will continue through this process to make sure all students needs are being met.”
Counselors are coming from area schools, as well as the Education Service Center and Bi-County Co-Op. The Ministerial Alliance is also assisting, Stanford said.
