Spotlight time for pets: Humane Society to benefit from annual Adorable Pet Contest

Corsicana — Think you have the most precious pet around town? Want to help out the local Humane Society? Boy, it’s your time of year.

Your pet could be the winner of the Daily Sun’s Most Adorable Pet Contest underway now, and in the process, you could be helping out the Humane Society of Navarro County.

Last year, the Daily Sun awarded a $200 gift certificate to Animal Care Clinic to the contest winner, and donated $400 to Humane Society. This year, the Animal Care Clinic prize amount is the same, and the donation could go up, depending on votes cast.

“We donate about 10 percent of the net proceeds to the Humane Society of Navarro County,” Daily Sun Publisher Raymond Linex II said. “Last year, we rounded up, but this year, we would love nothing more than to round that up a little more.

“It’s one of our favorite organizations to work with.”

In addition, this year’s winner will be featured on the cover of the July edition of Explore Magazine. Gift certificates worth $50 each will be awarded to three runner-ups.

The online contest allows pet owners to nominate their pet as the “most adorable” through a special page set up through the Daily Sun’s website, www.corsicanadailysun.com. Then, the public has a chance to cast votes on the most adorable pet.

Pictures of all the entrants will appear in the Daily Sun on May 24, and the winning pets will be acknowledged in the Daily Sun print edition, online at www.corsicanadailysun.com, and again in the July issue of Explore Magazine.

Entering and voting is easy — just follow the link from the Daily Sun’s website to enter, and vote.

There is a $10 registration fee to enter the contest, and votes for the “most adorable pet” are 50 cents each, with a minimum vote purchase of $5.

Registration is on now, and continues through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21.

Voting starts at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, and continues through 5 p.m. May 29.

The winner will be announced in the May 31 print edition of the Daily Sun.
