Corsicana — Active Shooter for Civilians training will be held at 6 p.m. at Collins Middle School. If you have a business, work in an office setting, church, school, etc. please come to this important training. Training will be presented on how to prepare, how to respond during an Active Shooter situation. Training will be presented by Sgt. Stephen Jones, DART Police Department. The Blooming Grove Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. in the museum at 201 S. Fordyce in Blooming Grove.  Guest speakers will again be Dr. Ray Dean Carroll and Rudy Carroll who will speak on their early years in Blooming Grove.  For more information call (903) 695-2724 or (903) 673-2635.

Corsicana Volunteer Income Tax  Assistance (VITA) will be at the Kerens Public Library from 1 to 4 p.m. each Wednesday until  April 11. If you are a low income (usually under $42K) or elderly, and in need of tax filing assistance, take advantage of this free program. This year we are seeing clients with appointments first and then we’ll work with our walk-ins. VITA will be at the YMCA in Corsicana on Tuesday and Thursday from 2 until 7 p.m. and Wednesdays in Kerens at the library from 1 until 4 p.m.  Call George Burrell at (903) 879-2091 to schedule your appointment.

Eureka Crime Watch will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Eureka United Methodist Church. Following a short business meeting, you’re invited to join the group in saying “thank you” to Les Cotten and family. Refreshments will be served.

United Way of Navarro County will host “Be Fashionable — Live United” at 6 p.m. at The Cook Center. Five local stores will feature their spring fashions, as well as 11 restaurants donating food and over 20 vendors with wares like Premier Jewelry, Mary Kay, Scentsy, Advocare and more. There will be gift baskets given away, door prizes, and entertainment. Seating is limited, so respond quickly if you wish to attend. Tickets are $20, call Marianne Mitchell at (903) 874-5253.
