Corsicana — The House of Refuge will hold its sixth annual benefit concert, Glorious Night of Praise at the First Baptist Church in Corsicana. The doors will open at 6:15 p.m. for a silent auction and concert will begin at 7 p.m. An offering will be taken but admission is free. Scheduled to perform are Taylor Parks and Byron Haynie, Billy Elias, Cross Timber, Shellie Buckley, The First Baptist Church Worship Team, and Dave and Sheryl Walser. April 6

“Teaching a New Dog Old Tricks,” a family-friendly comedy, will be performed at 2 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre on the second floor of the Albritton Administration Building on the Corsicana Campus of Navarro College. The performance is free and open to the public.

April 7

Piecemakers’ Quilt Guild of Corsicana will meet at 9:30 a.m. for fellowship and refreshments. Business meeting starts at 10 a.m. The April meeting will be led by Nancy Kemp. The guild will have a Quilts of Valor workshop. This workshop is devoted to making quilts for veterans who were wounded in war. Guild meetings are held at the Westhill Church of Christ. VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Site open from 2 until 7 p.m. to assist the elderly and low income file their tax returns at the Corsicana YMCA. To schedule an appointment, call 281-682-0928.

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m. The general public is invited to attend. Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.  For further information, please call 903-872-5072.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West 7th Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in any duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.
