COMMISSIONERS COURT MEETING BRIEFS
Minutes of previous meetings, payment of bills, budget transfers, and surplus declarations were all approved on the court’s consent agenda.
Commissioners decided to leave a burn ban enacted on July 1 in place. Continued dry conditions and lack of rainfall were cited as reasons for retaining the ban. The KBDI drought index reading is at 610, with a forecast of 680 a week. Eric Meyers Jr. said the drought index could reach 700 in two to three weeks.
Financial report accepted
The 2012 Combined Annual Financial Report was presented to commissioners by Paula Lowe of Pattillo, Brown and Hill, LLP, auditors for the county. Says county received an “unqualified opinion - the highest opinion that can be given.” Says she anticipates county receiving another award for its report.
The Texas Historical Commission presented a Distinguished Service Award to the Navarro County Historical Commission. County Judge H.M. Davenport Jr. presented the award to Bruce McManus on behalf of the Navarro County Historical Commission.
Commissioners heard and approved the county auditor’s report for May, and the tax collection report for June.
Commissioners approved an independent contractor agreement between Ruth Howe and the North Texas HIDTA.
