Holiday to bring closings

Corsicana Daily Sun

Corsicana — Only the county government offices and services will be shut down for the four–day weekend like last week. Navarro County offices will reopen on Wednesday.

The City of Corsicana, the U.S. Post Offices, and state of Texas offices will all be open Monday, but closed Tuesday.

The Daily Sun offices will close at noon on Monday, Dec. 31, and remain closed all day Tuesday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s holiday.

Allied Waste will not pick up trash on Tuesday, and all pickups will be pushed back one day. So, for example, normal Tuesday pickups will be done Wednesday, while Wednesday’s will be Thursday, etc. Friday’s normal pickup will be done Saturday.

In addition, Allied will be collecting natural Christmas trees along with the brush and leaves this year. People should leave the trees out on brush collection days. Alternately, people who can haul their trees to the city’s service center at 620 South 12th St., can leave trees in the trash bin there specifically set aside for that purpose.

All the trees will be burned in the city’s leaf-burning trench.
