English honored on occasion of retirement
Phyllis English was honored with a retirement party at the Nancy Roberts room located at the Corsicana Public Library on Dec. 20, 2012 after 38 years of employment at the Corsicana-Navarro Public Health District. She began her career in March 1975 in the PEDIA clinic and worked there for 12 years. In 1987, she moved into the health department and worked as program manager until she was named Executive Director of the Corsicana-Navarro Public Health District by Medical Director, Dr. Kent Rogers.
“Phyllis is competent, calm but strong. She earns my highest accolade however being trustworthy,” Rogers said.
English did an outstanding job in this position where she was responsible for grant writing, reporting, and all financial affairs for all programs in the health department. She received many perfect financial audits during her years as Executive Director.
“Phyllis has been a great asset to the health department, working tirelessly to maintain perfection in her position,” said Emily Carroll, Director of Nursing.
She will be missed by all in the Health Department and all her Health Department family wishes her well. She is married to Garland English and has one son, Danny, who is married with two children. Phyllis will soon be a great grandmother and looks forward to having time to spend with her family, traveling, and researching genealogy.
