Feb. 1-December

The Navarro College Police Academy will be hosting a Firefighter Shift Police Academy Feb. 1 through December for firefighters who need to attain their TECLEOSE certification. Classes will be held on the Corsicana Fire Department’s C-shift. Most weeks will have two class sessions. A few weeks will have three classes. Instruction will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on class days. All classes will be held at Navarro College’s Police Academy, 3200 W. 7th Ave. Cost will be $1,875. For more information, please contact Rachel W. Feb. 1

The Navarro College Adult Education Program has cancelled all February and March Orientation and Registration Workshops for GED and ESL classes. If you are interested in taking these classes, please contact the Adult Education office at 903-875-7464 or 1-800-NAVARRO ext. 7464 for registration information.

Feb. 2

Kerens Friends of Youth will hold its dinner/auction fundraiser at the KESA Building in downtown Kerens. Silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m., with meal starting at 6 p.m. Live auction will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 each, children age 5 to 18 are $5, and kids 4 and under are free. All proceeds go to the Kerens Friends of Youth for Navarro County Youth Expo projects.

The American Legion Post 22 at 632 N. Beaton St. will hold its regular meeting at the Post at 1:30 p.m. All members are urged to attend and participate in the business discussions.

Feb. 3

The Kinsloe House will have First Sunday Lunch of the new year on Feb. 3, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The First Sunday Luncheon is open to the public. This month’s menu will have a Cajun theme with French onion soup, your choice of a delicious gumbo with salad or Cajun roasted chicken and salad, and your choice of dessert. People wishing to attend should call Kinsloe House and (903) 874-5791 by no later than noon on Feb. 1.  It is a fun time to bring friends, enjoy a good meal, and just relax.
