Education Foundation presenting ‘webcast’ fundraiser Feb. 10

Corsicana — The Corsicana Education Foundation has announced plans to present a live webcast fundraiser on Monday, Feb. 10 from the Corsicana High School Gymnasium.

The webcast is being promoted as “CAST — Corsicana’s Amazing Students and Teachers” and will be hosted by longtime local radio personality Dick Aldama, and his son-in-law and current Tiger sports broadcaster, Rusty Hitt of Community National Bank and Trust.

“We wanted to provide a unique platform to highlight CISD students, and showcase Corsicana Education Foundation teaching grants,” said Jarod Gordon, foundation president. “Through this webcast, we can create a live event and interact with our community to help us continue our mission of providing enhanced learning opportunities for CISD students.”

The webcast will feature live student performances and Corsicana Education Foundation grant programs, while taking phone calls and pledges to kick-off the foundation’s fundraising efforts for 2014. Pledges and donations will be announced live during the webcast.

“From 2003-2007, the Corsicana Education Foundation held a telethon that was broadcast on cable TV,” said Kristin Zastoupil, CEF executive director. “It was always a hit with the community, and allowed CEF to showcase CISD’s incredibly talented students.”

Zastoupil said the foundation wanted to bring the telethon back in a format that the community could access easily. The live webcast can be accessed via computer, tablet or smart phone from anywhere in the world by visiting www.corsicanaef.org.

Proceeds from “CAST” benefit the Corsicana Education Foundation, which strives to enrich, maintain, and expand programs and projects for Corsicana ISD students and staff.

For more information, or to make a pledge in advance to be announced live during the webcast, contact the Corsicana Education Foundation offices by email at cef@cisd.org, or by calling 903-602-8133.
