Corsicana Daily Sun

Corsicana — An off-duty Corsicana Police officer was treated at the Navarro Regional Hospital emergency room Saturday following a scuffle during an off-duty security incident.

Police Chief Randy Bratton said the officer was hurt after being struck in the head by a subject being escorted from Cinergy Cinema Saturday night.

Officer Whitney Goulding was working off-duty security at the theater when the incident took place about 10 p.m. Saturday. As Goulding was escorting the subject — identified as a female juvenile — the juvenile is reported to have struck Goulding in the head with her fist.

Bratton said the juvenile was taken into custody after Goulding deployed “pepper spray” following the assault. A male bystander came to the officer’s assistance as well, helping to subdue the juvenile, Bratton said.

Goulding was taken by Corsicana EMS personnel to Navarro Regional Hospital for treatment following the incident, where she was treated and released.

The female juvenile was turned over to juvenile authorities, Bratton said.
