Navarro Regional Hospital’s Senior Circle presents “Behind the Scenes” with David King M.D. is at 11 a.m. in the hospital classrooms. Dr. King will explain the role of a pathologist. For reservations and more information, contact Connie Beal at 903-654-6892 or email connie_beal@chs.net.

Jan. 25

Training for VITA volunteers (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Navarro College. VITA site opens Jan. 28 through April 15. Volunteers would act as tax preparers for qualifying low income and elderly individuals. Shifts to work the VITA site are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 5 p.m. or 5 to 7 p.m.

The American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will host Karaoke Night with Country Sue from 8 p.m. to midnight. For further information call 903-874-3938 after 2 p.m.

Jan. 27

The Emhouse Community Center will meet at 6 p.m. with a membership drive. We welcome each person to come and join. Please bring a covered dish and come have a great fellowship.

Jan. 28

The Navarro County Republican Women will host their first meeting of the new year with a social time and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. The meeting and program will begin promptly at noon at the Republican Headquarters, 111-B West Third Avenue. Guest speaker will be Karen Watson, author of the book “Being Black and Republican in the Age of Obama.” Make your lunch reservations by contacting Sue Ferguson at 903-641-0357. Lunch is $7 at the door.

VITA (volunteer income tax assistance) Site open from 2 until 7 p.m. to assist the elderly and low income file their tax returns at the Corsicana YMCA.  Call Judy Kilgore at 281-682-0928 or Stuart Schoppert at 903-875-9310 to schedule an appointment.  Walk-ins are welcome but will be worked around those having appointments.
