Corsicana — Missionary Baptist Church is located at 405 S. 15th Street in Corsicana. Bro. William Dollar is church Pastor. Anyone who does not have a church home is welcome and encouraged to visit MBC. Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. followed by Morning Worship at 10:50 a.m. and Afternoon Worship at 4 p.m. each week. These services are observed in a scripturally conservative environment with singing, praise and worship to the Lord who continues to bless this church wonderfully. MBC also meets each Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. Classes are very casual. The youth also participate in fun activities in the gymnasium. Come and be blessed and enjoy the warm Christian fellowship. Unity Baptist Church, 101 S. 30th St., where Chad Owens is Pastor, invites you to services: Sunday School 9:45 a.m. Sunday, worship and children’s church at 11 a.m., worship at 6 p.m., and Wednesday: Prayer meeting at 7 p.m., Kings Kids class meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.  We now have Kings Kids for Teens also. Tuesday, a group from Unity visits shut-ins at 10 a.m. Thursday, there is a Bible study at Northwest Apartments Community Center at 7 p.m. Sunday, a group teaches and sings at Twilight Nursing Home at 9 a.m. For transportation to services, call (903) 872-2861. A nursery is open for church services.

Harmony Baptist Church, 400 East 12th Avenue, Corsicana, will conclude its pastor and wife's appreciation celebration on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 for Bishop John Baker and First Lady Vanessa Baker, for their 19 years of faithful service to the church. There will be no Sunday school or morning service on Sunday morning.  Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. at the MLK Community Center, 1114 East Sixth Ave., Corsicana. At 3:30 p.m., Ennis Mt. Zion Church, Ennis, will be guest church and Elder Rufus Gant, Pastor, or appointee, will be the speaker of the hour. Other guests will be:  Pastor Joe Hubbard, Sr. and Macedonia Baptist Church, Streetman; Pastor Ronald Williams and Faith to Faith Ministries, Burleson; Bishop Annell Haney and Church of the Living God, Malakoff; and Pastor William Laktari and Gospel Springs International, Ft. Worth. All are invited to come and show love for this man and woman of God.

The town hall presentation will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Dr. Richard M. Sanchez Library on the Corsicana campus.

    The Corsicana City Council is going to tell the city's story in a big, big way — on a 48 foot wide electronic billboard on Interstate 45. The council approved the purchase and construction of the new sign Monday, one that will help promote city events and attractions, and hopefully attract visitors — and their dollars — to the city's businesses and events.
