Manning to be honored

Friday reception to recognize longtime community leader

Corsicana — The community is invited to attend an appreciation ceremony in honor of Tinnis Manning Jr. taking place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center on East Sixth Avenue.

Manning, 69, is being recognized for his community activities and involvement on various boards and committees.

Called a man of integrity with love and compassion for his family, church and community, Manning is a 1964 graduate of G.W. Jackson High School. He worked for the Corsicana Independent School District for 33 years, and after a year of retirement, joined the Kerens ISD.

Manning is a member of Second Mission Baptist Church, and serves as chairman of the Deacon Ministry, president of Ushers, a Sunday School teacher, and many other capacities. He is the treasurer of the Harmony Baptist District Association, and a member of the Texas State Missionary Baptist Convention.

He has also served as the president of the Jackson Ex-Students Association for the past four years, and coordinator of the annual Juneteenth parade for over 25 years.

Friday’s event is being hosted by Single Believers Ministries, and is open to the public. The Martin Luther King Jr. Center is at 1114 East Sixth Avenue in Corsicana.
