Corsicana — First United Methodist Church of Corsicana, 320 N. 15th. Street, invites everyone in the community to their annual children's musical. Over 60 children and youth will present The Best Christmas Present Ever on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 10:50 a.m. in the Great Hall. Please come and see this wonderful Christmas message with  beautifully  painted scenery. You will leave with the true spirit of Christmas!

Pastor Dave Alexander is starting a new church in Retreat, with the first service to be at 10 a.m. Jan. 6 at the Retreat City Hall on FM 709. Currently non-denominational, Alexander himself was reared as a Baptist so the message will reflect that background. Everyone is invited and welcome to come worship in this new congregation as it forms. Bring your Bible.

The annual First Baptist Church Living Christmas Tree will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings at the church at 510 W. Collin Street in Corsicana. The Living Christmas Tree consists of a towering pyramid-shaped structure in which the Celebration Choir members are perched as they sing Christmas carols and spiritual songs. The performances are free and open to everyone in the community. The doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be a “pre-tree” at 6:30 p.m. with the actual tree starting at 7 p.m. No tickets are required.

The first Living Christmas Tree at First Baptist was performed in 1985, and the choir has seldom missed a year in putting on the event.

A Charity Benefit Musical to benefit the Navarro County Family Services and the Navarro County Food Pantry will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at Lifeline Fellowship Family Church, 5301 W. Hwy 31. Please come and support the organizations that help many families with food, clothing, medicine and spiritual guidance. You can help with a monetary donation, canned goods, or non-perishable items. Sponsored by Catherine Wright, Ruby Williams, and Family Service board members. If you can’t be present, please contact Catherine Wright at (903) 872-4949 to pick up your monetary donations and/or non-perishable food items.
