UPDATE: Victim in fatal crash identified

Corsicana — Police have identified the 64-year-old Corsicana man who died at Parkland Hospital Tuesday night from injuries sustained when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck.

Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton identified the victim as Richard Newton Guillot.

Bratton said police were notified of Guillot's death about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The accident was reported about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday. Guillot was riding a bicycle southbound on Business 45 near the railroad trestle when he was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup being driven by Delphus Cephus, 58, of Corsicana.

Guillot was taken by ground ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Weather prevented the use of an air ambulance, Bratton said.

Weather was overcast and raining with wet pavement at the time of the accident, but it is not known if weather was a factor in the accident.

According to Bratton, Cephus told officers he did not see Guillot on the bicycle. Cephus was cited following the accident for failure to control speed.

The accident remains under investigation, and further charges are possible, Bratton added.

Accident investigators Stan Eddington and Alan Crawford are assigned to the case.
