Corsicana — News and announcements submitted by congregations from throughout Navarro County.

The Second Mission Baptist Church located at 909 South Fifth St. in Corsicana, where Larry L. Polk, Sr., serves as Pastor, will observe the 18th Year Recognition Service for their Pastor on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013.  This year’s theme:  “Who Is On The Lord’s Side?”  from the text of II Corinthians 4:5.  The Morning Worship Service will begin at 11:15 a.m. with guest speaker Minister Gary Floyd of the Galilee Baptist Church of Longview. The afternoon Celebratory Service will begin at 3 p.m. with special guest Pastor Donald R. Parish, Sr. and the True Lee Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas. The congregants invite you to share in this service of praise and thanksgiving for Pastor Larry L. Polk, Sr., who has faithfully served as the Under Shepherd to the Shepherd of the Second Mission B. C. Pastor Polk has diligently proclaimed the authoritative word of God; he is enthusiastic and jubilant to share the message of hope and salvation through a relationship with Jesus Christ.  He is charismatic in his greeting and profound in his execution of the scriptures to be certain we know God’s desire for all to receive this gift of salvation.  The congregants of the Second Church give God all the Glory for Pastor Polk and the tireless service he has given to the people of God.

Blooming Grove United Methodist Church will hold its Lord's Acre celebration on Sept. 14, 2013 at the Blooming Grove Methodist Church. The Country Store will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with take-outs starting at 11 a.m.  Free delivery in Blooming Grove area.  Call (903) 695-2334.  The meal will consist of brisket, potato salad, beans, slaw, dessert and tea.  Adult meals are $8 and children 10 and under $5.  The live auction will begin in the sanctuary at 1 p.m. There will be a drawing for a beautiful homemade quilt made by the BGUMC quilting group. The donations for the tickets  are 1 for $1 or 6 for $5.    

Intercessors for Navarro County Men’s Prayer Breakfast will meet at Navarro College, in the Lone Star Room at the cafeteria at 6:45 a.m on Wednesday mornings. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W. State Hwy. 22, invites all to join us for our Sunday Church Service starting at 10 a.m. We have nursery for babies through age 2 years and activities for 3 and 4 year olds. Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to meet in the children's building for Children's Church. First Independent Baptist Church, 701 G.W. Jackson Ave., presents a 7-Up Women’s Program from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. A free spaghetti luncheon will follow. Come and be blessed. First Independent Baptist Church will also celebrate its Men and Women’s Day Annual 2013 at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 with guest speaker Co-Pastor Debbie Keele.

Love Chapel Baptist Church located at 400 North Benton Street where David E. Wilson serves as Pastor and Sharron D. Wilson serves as Minister will celebrate their 93rd Church Anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. Sunday School will begin at 9:45 a.m. and Morning Worship at 11 a.m.The Church anniversary hour is 3 p.m. The theme for the occasion is “Let The Church Be The Church” from the scripture text; Hebrews 10:19-25. The messenger will be Pastor Alvin E. Smith of the Striaght Way Missionary Baptist Church along with his congregation. All former members, family and friends are extended a special invitation to come home and let us come together and praise the Lord.

Sixth Ave. Baptist Church and its Reaching Out to You Ministry, 125 S. Fifth St., calls all Youth to its Inner-Outer City Cry at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013. Bishop k.d. davis sr. will bring the message for a Pastor’s Anniversary celebration at Faith Temple Ministries in Fairfield at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25.

Bethel A.M.E. Church, 101 N. Fourth St., is pleased to announce the 10th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church will welcome Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie (presiding Plelate) and Mr. Stan McKenzie (10th Episcopal District W.M.S. Supervisor) as they tour churches of the Paul Quinn District where Rev. Dr. Marshall Hobbs Sr. is the presiding elder. Church tours begin the evening of Aug. 16 with a late evening prayer service at Bethel at 8:30 p.m. The public is more than welcome to attend this awesome occasion. Pastor and wife of Bethel are The Rev. Willie L. Greene Sr. and Sis. June Greene.

Beulah Baptist Church of Wortham will hold its Annual Women’s Day Program at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013. The pastor is John L. Delancey, and the theme is “Heaven or Hell?” All family churches, friends and members are invited to come celebrate this event with them. All soloists, praise teams, choirs and acts are welcome.

Single Believers Ministries invites all to join them to show appreciation to Tinnis Manning in honor of his faithfulness toward the Juneteenth Parade for over 30 years. The event will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013. Everyone is welcome to stop by to visit and encourage him for his faithfulness in the community.

Church on the Rock, 1405 SE McKinney, Rice, will hold a weekly Bible study at 7 p.m. Thursday nights beginning Thurs., Aug. 15. This study will be led by Bro. Frank Jones, who may be reached for more information at (903) 872-6316.

Greater Love Outreach Fellowship Church, 700 East Park Avenue, Corsicana, is endeavoring to build family, church and community relations. At 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 it will host a Back to School Program giving away backpacks and school supplies, in order to assist low and no income families with this expense. There will also be refreshments on the grounds. You are invited to come and worship with them, special guest will be Pastor Steven Warren of the McDonald COGIC i Palestine. Come and be blessed.

Sixth Avenue Baptist Church and its Reaching Out To You Ministry, is calling all teams for a Volleyball Tournament to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. It will be held at LIving Word Christian Fellowship, 3900 FM 744, Corsicana. Registration is $10 per team and you may register at the door.  First Baptist Church, 510 W. Collin, Corsicana Kidz Day Out Preschool Program is now enrolling children ages 6 weeks old through Pre-K for the Fall. Petty’s Chapel Baptist Church, 1300 FM 3041, where Elvin Sikes serves as Pastor would like to invite everyone to our worship services.  Petty’s Chapel Baptist Church is located on Old Roane Road a half mile east of I-45.  Sunday worship begins at 8:30 a.m.  There is a short time of fellowship and Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m.  Wednesday night services begin at 6:30 p.m.  We would also like to invite all women to a special time of fellowship and Bible study.  It is held every second and fourth Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall.  (Light lunch and childcare will be provided.)

Grief Share, sponsored by Northside Baptist Church, meets from 5 to 7 p.m. each Sunday at the Fellowship Center on Forest Lane (across the street from Northside). This is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. Each Grief Share session includes a video seminar and group discussion. Grief Share is a non-denominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time.
