Oak Valley Ex-Students will have a class reunion on July 28, 2013 at 2211 Oak Valley Lane, Corsicana. There will be a short meeting before lunch. Bring a covered dish. Ex-Students will meet for lunch at 12 noon. Any questions call Linda (903) 872-3168.

Aug. 1

Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department. The speaker is to be announced.

 

Aug. 10

City of Corsicana presents “Island Time” in its Second Saturday event series from 4 to 9 p.m. in downtown Corsicana. Activities include limbo and hula hoop contests and water slide. Visit local merchants, street and food vendors, and enjoy live music by Curlyhead and also by Tommy-O and the Bamboo Boat Band. Free to the public and to vendors. Aug. 13

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m.  The general public is invited to attend.  Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.  For further information, please call (903) 872-5072.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West 7th Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

    A baseball coach at heart, about a year ago Aaron Tidwell began to seriously focus on education administration. He just didn’t think an opportunity would present itself so soon. Mildred Independent School District board members approved the 31-year-old Corsicana native as the high school’s new principal Monday night.
