From Staff Reports
Corsicana Daily Sun
Now is the time to clear up any warrants before March 2 and the Great Texas Warrant Roundup.
The warrant roundup is an effort by more than 300 jurisdictions, including the City of Corsicana, to clear outstanding warrants. It targets defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher charge warrants.
In the past, Corsicana has cleared hundreds of cases through the effort.
People with outstanding warrants in the municipal court who being targeted will receive a notice in the mail. Corsicana Capt. Nori Rhodes said a list containing 2,753 outstanding warrants will be made available to patrol officers. The officers will be checking this list when an individual is stopped on traffic. If the citizen’s name is on the list, he/she will be arrested.
If a citizen is arrested on a Class C misdemeanor warrant, the violator will be taken before the court judge for arraignment and disposition of their case. Full payment, or suitable arrangement for full payment, will be due at that time.
Citizens, who have received notices or are concerned with outstanding warrants, are encouraged to make every effort to take care of the warrant to avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest at home or work. Starting March 2nd Officers will be actively looking for those named on the warrant list; so there is still time for citizens to come in and take care of their warrants. To take care of outstanding tickets, area residents should contact the Corsicana Municipal Court at (903) 654-4857 or make a personal appearance.
Rhodes, who is overseeing the roundup operation, may be contacted at (903) 654-4919 for additional information.
