Corsicana — A motorcycle rider who was thrown over a barbed wire fence into a pasture after wrecking out at the curve in Dobbins near 37th Street, was found around 7 a.m. Friday morning by an off-duty fireman.

Daryl Books, 39, of Corsicana, went to get his 2008 Suzuki motorcycle out of storage Thursday night around 8 p.m. from a storage unit near the high school, but didn’t make it home, according to friends.

The fireman called 911, and EMTs carried Brooks to Navarro Regional Hospital. He was semi-conscious at the time, but was flown by air ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

He was not wearing a helmet.

Police said they aren’t sure what happened, or why he lost control of the bike, or even when it happened. He could have been in the pasture all night, investigators said.

“Nobody saw it happen, and he’s not in any condition to tell us what happened,” said Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton.
