Jury announcement: County Court jury duty called for 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 26 in Judge H.M. Davenport’s court has been canceled. If you were called, you need not report.

March 22

IntegraCare, Cambridge Crossing and Edge Medical Supply will sponsor a free lunch with door prizes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Corsicana Y, 400 Oaklawn Dr. There will be free hot dogs and hamburgers, as well as door prizes.

March 23

Corsicana Palace Theatre, 112 W. Sixth Ave., presents Ricky Nelson Remembered at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $40. Prior to the show at 6:30 p.m. will be “Sock Hop on Sixth Avenue” with tickets at $25 each, and includes dinner and drinks. For more information contact the Palace at (903) 874-7792.

The American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will host Karaoke Night with Country Sue from 8 p.m. to midnight. For more information, call (903) 874-3938 after 2 p.m.

Chatfield Tupelo Community Center will hold its Annual Chili Supper at 6 p.m. Bring your taste buds and your Tums! Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for kids 12 and under. Chili entries due by 5:30 p.m.

March 23-24

The Mike Dickens Memorial Youth Organization is hosting a Civil War Re-enactment Saturday and Sunday as a fundraiser for youth sports in Rice. Displays, vendor booths and battle re-enactments are taking place Saturday and Sunday, and a dinner/dance will be held Saturday night. Admission to grounds is $5 each day, and tickets to the dance and dinner are $10 by reservation only. For more information, call Roger Barlow at (903) 875-4123.

March 25

The newly organized Silver Dems will meet at 5 p.m. at the Navarro Democratic Party HQ at 416A W. Third Street (one block West of Court House).  We will be socializing and munching from plates that you bring so be generous with the sweet treats and wear your best smile.  We will soon be approving by-laws and electing officers and committees so your leadership skills will be needed.  Come and join the Party! The group’s main purpose is to discuss and protect issues important to folks over 50 years young and educate ourselves on benefits from the government and civilian organizations that are available and earned by Senior Citizens and Veterans.
