The City of Corsicana has authorized Mayor Chuck McClanahan to sign an agreement with Home Depot, it was decided at Tuesday’s special executive session of the city council.
The company chose to leave Corsicana in favor of putting a warehouse in the Metroplex, despite a tax abatement agreement with the city, county and college district. Now, the three entities are negotiating for how much the company will have to pay back to avoid a lawsuit.
Under tentative negotiations, the city will receive 46 percent, the county will get 45 percent and Navarro College will get 9 percent of the settlement according to City Manager Connie Standridge.
The Navarro College board is set to meet Wednesday to consider the issue. The county designated County Judge H.M. Davenport its spokesman in the deal on Monday.
