Corsicana — Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance will hold its Fourth Sunday night service Sunday, April 28 at the Day Spring Fellowship Church downtown Corsicana, 111 West Collin St. Host Pastor Dan Layne, service will begin at 7 p.m. The public is invited to come. President of the IDMA will bring the message, Pastor Dairy G. Johnson, Sr. of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Asking all of the churches to come out and be blessed. Grace Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, 402 East 14th Ave., Corsicana, will be celebrating its 100th Church Anniversary on April 28, 2013 at 3 p.m. Rev. Donne Watson of the New Cornerstone Baptist Church will be delivering the message for this monumental occasion. The theme is from Ecclesiastes 3:1 - 'To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.' Come and join the Grace Temple family on this historical day. Taylor Memorial COGIC will have its Feast of the Seven Tables again from 12 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 11. All you can eat for a donation of $7. You may dine in or take out. We welcome guest speaker Bishop Carlos Daniels and Congregation of Faith Tabernacle Ministry of Palestine, and Praise and Worship Leader/ recording artist Brandon Washington of Houston, who will be releasing his CD in June called “Champion.” For some good old time “church” all roads lead to 301 East Third Ave. in the Home Center where the feast of the Lord will be going on.   • City cancels ambulance contract with county

    The City of Corsicana has notified Navarro County officials it is cancelling its agreement with the county to provide EMS ambulance service to areas outside the city limits. According to a letter sent to county officials by Corsicana Mayor Chuck McClanahan, ambulance service to county residents will end on Jan. 31, 2015.

    The project to rebuild Seventh Avenue or Highway 31 as it goes through Corsicana is almost over. From an uneven patchwork of paving and pitted concrete, now it’s a smooth ride from Beaton all the way through town.
    It just took an extra year to finish.

    An attempt to bootleg electricity off a pole using jumper cables is believed to have caused a building fire that took out a former restaurant in Angus Friday morning, one of a series of calls to Navarro County Sheriff’s Office to the southern end of the county over the weekend.
