Corsicana — Missionary Baptist Church, 405 S. 15th Street, Corsicana. Jesus said, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” You are invited to worship this week at Missionary Baptist Church. Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. The Morning Worship is at 10:50 a.m. Afternoon Worship is at 4 p.m. Wednesday evening offers Bible study for all ages at 7 p.m. and recreation for the youth to follow. A special evening of fellowship with burgers and such will be held Friday evening at 6 p.m. A presentation regarding the Pine Springs Summer Camp will be presented. Anyone interested Summer Camp is encouraged to attend. It is with great humility that we thank God for the richness of His blessings. Come and be blessed.


The Kingdom Connection Monthly Fellowship will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church located at 400 South 15th Street where Alvin E. Smith serves as Pastor.  The Spoken Word will be brought by Pastor David E. Wilson who serves as Pastor of the Love Chapel Baptist Church.  The public is cordially invited to come and praise the Lord with us in this service.


The Love Chapel Baptist Church located at 400 North Benton Street where David E. Wilson serves as Pastor and Sharron D. Wilson serves as Minister will observe their Brotherhood Program at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013.  The theme  is “Brethren Count It All Joy” from the scripture text James 1:1-4.  The spoken word will be brought by Bishop k.d.davis of the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church.  Deacon Roy Sanders, Jr. serves as Brotherhood Chairperson.  Everyone is extended an invitation to attend this service.

The Greater Love Outreach Fellowship Church 700 East Park Ave.  would like to invite you to an 89th Historic Church Anniversary starting Thursday, April 25 at 7 p.m.; guest speaker is Pastor Dairy Johnson Sr. of the Bethlehem Baptist Church; on Friday, April 26, at 7 p.m. guest speaker is Pastor Eric Grant Sr. of God's Holy Temple C.O.G I.C.  and will close out on Sunday, April 28 at 3 p.m. with guest speaker Pastor Lee J.   • City cancels ambulance contract with county

    The City of Corsicana has notified Navarro County officials it is cancelling its agreement with the county to provide EMS ambulance service to areas outside the city limits. According to a letter sent to county officials by Corsicana Mayor Chuck McClanahan, ambulance service to county residents will end on Jan. 31, 2015.

    The project to rebuild Seventh Avenue or Highway 31 as it goes through Corsicana is almost over. From an uneven patchwork of paving and pitted concrete, now it’s a smooth ride from Beaton all the way through town.
    It just took an extra year to finish.

    An attempt to bootleg electricity off a pole using jumper cables is believed to have caused a building fire that took out a former restaurant in Angus Friday morning, one of a series of calls to Navarro County Sheriff’s Office to the southern end of the county over the weekend.

    Hats out of old newspaper and leftover wrapping paper, simple robots out of popsicle sticks, rubber bands and pencil erasers, a microcosm of the aquifer made of root beer and ice cream — with a dollop of chocolate syrup. These were among the fun science projects at Tuesday’s 4-H Discovery Days event at the Navarro County Youth Expo.
