Corsicana — The Emhouse 53rd School Reunion will be held at 11 a.m. at the Taylorosa Event Center on West Hwy. 22 and FM 744 in Corsicana. All faculty, students and friends are welcomed to attend and share some time to relive those wonderful years at Emhouse School. At our last reunion we had school students from 1941 through 1959 when the school closed. Everyone is asked to bring a favorite dish to share a great meal with our friends. Dinner will begin at 12 noon after gathering at 11 a.m., and we’ll be dismissed by 2 p.m. Please make plans to attend.

The First Annual Brittany Averitt Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament will be held with shotgun starts at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. It’s a four-man scramble, with lunch included for the golfers and barbecue sandwiches for sale. There will also be a raffle and silent auction. Something for everyone whether you golf or not, bar olympics with pool, darts and washers. Funds raised will go to a scholarship fund for Sam Houston State University in Brittany Averitt’s name.

The Hopewell Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at the cemetery at 11 a.m. The speaker and business meeting will be first, followed by a covered dish lunch afterwards. If inclement weather, we will meet at the Navarro City Hall. Doug Jordan of Nacogdoches, a descendent of the Harvards and Boyds will be the guest speaker. Attendance is encouraged and appreciated. Navarro Regional Hospital’s Senior Circle will host a physician lecture in the hospital classrooms from 12 to 1 p.m. Join Dr. Neal Green as he talks on “Beyond 50!” What happens to us after 50 years of age?     A baseball coach at heart, about a year ago Aaron Tidwell began to seriously focus on education administration. He just didn’t think an opportunity would present itself so soon. Mildred Independent School District board members approved the 31-year-old Corsicana native as the high school’s new principal Monday night.
