The Navarro Council of the Arts presents its Annual Youth Art Show at the Warehouse Living Arts Center Gallery. For more information, contact Navarro Council of the Arts at (903) 872-5411.

May 8

Kinsloe House will host the “75th Birthday Luncheon” at 12 noon. President Barbara Watkins, with her committee, will present a nostalgic program with a step back to the year 1938. The 30’s era was a “Decade of Drama,” so come and reminisce with us. Members are urged to wear a hat or gloves or both in keeping with the 30’s era. You will see fashions that would have been worn at Kinsloe, hear the sounds of the era, and celebrate with members as they recall the culmination of a dream of the Women’s Club House that began in 1937. Please call to make your reservations or cancellations by 12:00 noon on Monday, May 6th. Don’t miss out on all the fun members are going to have at this event.

The Corsicana Newcomers' Club Lunch Bunch will meet at Bittersweet Boutique at 11:30 a.m. You can't miss this new dining place for scrumptious sandwiches and CUPCAKES!  Call Pat Schroeder at (903) 872-9663 to save you a seat!

Chatfield/Tupelo Neighborhood Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Chatfield Community Center. Everyone is invited to come hear Jason Grant, our newly elected county commissioner. Following the program, light refreshments will be served.

May 10

Navarro Regional Hospital’s Senior Circle will hold a Pot Luck at the hospital classrooms from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish of your choice and join in on the fun. Contact Connie Beal to sign up at (903) 654-6892.

Navarro County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Northwest Apartments Community Center, 1360 NW Avenue. A catered luncheon will be served. Reservations for luncheon are required, and may be made by calling treasurer Kathy Huffman at (903) 654-2849 or Patty Knauth at (903) 872-3601 by Tuesday, May 7. The luncheon will be $8 per plate. Officers for the coming year will be installed with words from Laura Rothrock, president of District XII Retired Teachers Association. All school employees are invited.

  • YMCA warns against woman fraudulently soliciting funds

    A woman has been soliciting funds, falsely portraying herself as representing the YMCA, Executive Director Terry Seth reported late Wednesday afternoon. A business owner in town informed Seth a lady solicited his business, saying she was raising money for the YMCA for a program for deaf children. Seth says the YMCA does not have such a program.

  • Wine and walking

    About a dozen local businesses are opening their doors for the Derrick Days Wine and Cheese stroll this year, and many are only doing it as an open house opportunity.

    The stroll is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. April 24 in downtown Corsicana. It's free and open to the public.
