Drane mourns passing of award-winning teacher

CISD Submission

Corsicana — Corsicana ISD was notified this morning that a science teacher at Drane Middle School, Pam Woods, unexpectedly passed away in her sleep last night.

“Mrs. Woods was a dedicated teacher and a valued member of the staff at Drane,” said Adan Casas, principal at Drane Intermediate School. “We are shocked and so sad to lose this very special member of our Drane family.”

Mrs. Woods was awarded the “Rising Star” Award last year at the end of year awards for CISD. She has been with the district since August 2008.

Teachers and students were assembled this morning for the announcement made by Mr. Casas.

“Our phone lines are open for our parents and students to communicate as needed,” said Casas.

“We have called our district counselors to help our student and staff cope with this news,” said Dr. Diane Frost, superintendent. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Woods and her family.”
