City Council Meeting Briefs
Council members conducted the annual review and approval of the city’s investment policy, and approved a revised financial policy presented by City Manager Connie Standridge. Standridge said the new financial policy added several procedures the city was already following in writing, and updates a previous policy that was last approved in 2001.
The council approved a variance in fencing requirements for a string of mobile homes located off of North Business 45. The property owner will fence a portion of the area that contains mobile homes to keep them from being visible from the highway, along with use of a “vegetation barrier” in addition to the fencing.
The council approved naming the mayor, city manager, and finance director as signatories on grant projects for a waterline improvement project, and infrastructure work for the new waterpark project.
Welding shop receives SUP
Council unanimously approved a Special Use Permit for a welding shop to operate in property on South Interstate 45 near Watkins Construction. The company is Three D Metal Works, and will operate at 3000 South Interstate 45.
Fair Housing Month to be observed
The council officially declared the month of January 2014 as “Fair Housing Month” within the city of Corsicana.
Lease financing approved
The council passed a resolution required by JP Morgan Chase Bank that names the city manager and director of finance as authorized officials for a five-year capital lease/purchase financing agreement for various vehicles and equipment.
