United Way hosting benefit style show and expo

Corsicana — An evening of fine fashions, shopping and food samplings is in store for Thursday night at Corsicana’s Cook Center.

United Way of Navarro County is holding its “Be Fashionable, Live United” Style Show and Expo from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, featuring a look at spring’s latest fashions and more accessories for health, beauty, and more.

Tickets for the event are $20 each, and includes fashions from stores including Canterbury Couture, Cassady’s Boutique, The Children’s Shop, Cowgirl Click, and Luci Blu.

Food samplings will also be available from Affordable Affairs Catering, Applebee’s, Bush’s Chicken, Chili’s, Cotton Patch, Dickie’s BBQ, Sweet M’s Sweet Treats, Thyme and Elegance, Wing Stop and Lady Diana’s Tea Room, said Marianne Mitchell, executive director of United Way of Navarro County.

“We’re calling it ‘Taste of Corsicana,” she said. “A lot of local companies are helping us put this on.”

There will also be a collection of vendors on hand with a variety of items, she added, including health and beauty, accessories for the home, and more.

Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to win door prizes throughout the evening.

“We’ll be having gift basket door prize drawings every 15 minutes,” she said.

Response to the effort — designed at pushing United Way of Navarro County closer to its 2013 goal — has been great, Mitchell said.

“We’re a little under $50,000 from meeting our goal,” she explained. “It’s unbelievable how many people are pulling together.”

Helping model some of the fashions to be shown are supporters of the United Way campaign, including both partner agencies and businesses and industries that have contributed through workplace campaigns.

For information or tickets for Thursday’s event, contact the United Way of Navarro County office at 903-874-5253, or visit the office at 115 North Main Street in Corsicana.
