April 6

The American Legion, Post 22, will hold its monthly meeting which will include the annual election of Post officers at 1:30 p.m. at the post. All members and prospective members are invited to attend. All members interested in running for office should use the sign up sheet.

 

American Legion Squadron 22 (Sons of the American Legion) will hold elections for their election at the American Legion, 632 N. Beaton St., at 3:30 p.m. All interested members need to sign up for the election on the sign up sheet.

Angels of Corsicana Troop Support will hold a packing at 9 a.m. at the Angle Room, 1020 N. Bus. 45. All ages are welcome to come pack. Please bring the name of a military member serving in harm’s way with you to the packing so we can do a gift box for our military members. There will be a special meeting following the packing for sign up for the semi-annual barbecue, bake sale, and garage sale, which will be held the first weekend of May. Donations will be accepted from anyone wishing to help raise funds for postage of boxes for our military. From 9 a.m. to 12 noon each Thursday until the garage sale there will be pricing on garage sale items at the Angel Room, volunteers are welcome. Todd Staples, Texas Agriculture Commissioner, will be speaking to the Republican Party of Navarro County Executive Commmittee at 7:00 p.m. at the Republican Party of Navarro County Headquarters at 111-B West Third Avenue in Corsicana. All registered voters are invited attend.

Woodmen of the World Lodge 5 will have its meeting at 6 p.m. in the Lodge Hall at 200 W. Oak Lawn.  All members, their families and guests are cordially invited.

Corsicana Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be at the Corsicana YMCA from 2 to 7 p.m. If you are low income (usually under $42K) or elderly, and in need of tax filing assistance, take advantage of this free program. This year VITA will see clients with appointments first and then work with walk-ins. VITA is at the YMCA on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at the Kerens Library on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Call George Burrell at (903) 879-2091 to schedule your appointment.
