Corsicana — When Are We Going Home Ministry will hold Rising Star Creative Ministry at New Beginnings  Family Fellowship in Blooming Grove at 6 p.m. All events are free and open to children with medical challenges, disabilities and special needs and their immediate siblings. www.whenarewegoinghome.com.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave., Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m.   The general public is invited to attend.  Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.  For further information, please call (903) 872-5072.

NARFE, National Association of Active/Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 1191, will hold its monthly meeting at Ryan’s Buffet in Waxahachie from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013.  The Honorable Carol Bush, Ellis County Judge, will be our guest speaker.  Members and guests are welcome. Corsicana Volunteer Income Tax  Assistance (VITA) will be at the Kerens Public Library from 1 to 4 p.m. each Wednesday until  April 11. If you are a low income (usually under $42K) or elderly, and in need of tax filing assistance, take advantage of this free program. This year we are seeing clients with appointments first and then we’ll work with our walk-ins. VITA will be at the YMCA in Corsicana on Tuesday and Thursday from 2 until 7 p.m. and Wednesdays in Kerens at the library from 1 until 4 p.m.  Call George Burrell at (903) 879-2091 to schedule your appointment.
