Corsicana — Navarro County Judge H.M. Davenport announced Wednesday he is lifting the burn ban in Navarro County effective at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
In an email announcing the decision, Davenport said "with recent rains and cool temps our KBDI average is now 530. The forecasted 14 day average is 535 indicating there should not be a significant dry out, but an average amount of rainfall during the next two week timeframe.
"For now the National Weather Service indicates a low threat of fires due to higher humidity's, low to moderate wind speeds, and normal fuel dryness. Thankfully fire calls have been very slow to this point as hopefully folks have used great caution with any open flames.
"However, the main concern at this point will be the abundant amount of dormant fuels across the county. In lifting the ban we will just have to monitor the fire calls and continue to watch the conditions as we move forward."
