Texas AgriLife Extension Agent Paula Butler was recently honored with the “Iris Stagner Award” for her work as coordinator of Navarro County’s “Healthy County” program.
The award is presented at the Healthy County seminar held in Austin. The award was recently re-named in honor of Stagner, a strong advocate of the program who recently passed away. The award is resented to a sponsor or coordinator of a “Healthy County” program who showed outstanding leadership and innovation.
Frank Hull, Navarro County’s treasurer, is the sponsor of Navarro County’s program, and nominated Butler for the honor. Hull said he placed her name in nomination due to her efforts to help make Navarro County a better place to work and live.
Criteria for the award include:
• meet the vision of the program to optimize the health and well being of its members.
• motivate employees to participate in the wellness programs.
• organize and plan health related activities.
• gain leadership support for wellness program throughout the county.
Family members Butch Stagner and her granddaughter Foley presented Butler with the award.
