Corsicana — The City of Corsicana has debuted out a new cutting-edge, interactive suite of online tools to better engage and communicate with citizens.

The new navigationally friendly, easy-to-update and visually appealing website at www.cityofcorsicana.com is the result of a six month redevelopment project with CivicPlus, the nation’s leader in municipal government websites.

“The web has become the first resource for the vast majority of people when they need to find an answer to a question, locate a service, file a complaint or conduct business,” said Corsicana City Manager Connie Standridge. “We realized that local government should be conducting business online as well.”

The new website promises community engagement in the form of transparency — providing citizens with open access to government through citizen-centric technologies and information structures; in citizen sourcing — encouraging citizens to get active, get involved and to take ownership of local issues; and in communication — allowing citizens’ voices to be heard, and making that voice resonate with government leaders in ways that allow for a finger to be placed on the pulse of the citizen’s wants and needs.

Website users will be able to sign up to receive bid postings, newsletters and event cancellations; easily search and retrieve job postings; apply for jobs; find answers to common questions and search commercial property listings. Additional user-friendly functions will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

Additional online spaces for economic development and tourism were included in the project, with each section easily accessible from graphic links on the city government home page. The two departments are tied to the site’s overall architecture, but each has its own navigation and design, due to the nature of the information presented. Visitors to www.visitcorsicana.com  will be taken directly to the tourism pages.

The City’s ongoing agreement with CivicPlus also provides for automatic software and functional module updates, around-the-clock technical support and hosting, as well as a free design refresh in the fourth year.

“We want to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars,” Standridge said. “Partnering with an innovative company like CivicPlus allows us to minimize the total cost of ownership of a robust website, while bringing increased efficiencies to the Government Center.”
