All coins and currency dated 1964 and before are highly sought after by collectors. But if you have old coins, where do you find these collectors?

For five days, the National Coin Collectors Association is bringing collectors right here to Corsicana. These collectors will be purchasing all types of coins, currency, mint sets, proof sets, silver dollars, and gold and silver bullion from the general public.

Coin collecting has been popular for over 200 years, the association said. The original United States mint was opened in Philadelphia in 1792. Since the beginning, collectors have shown interest in all types of coins and currency. While some collectors only look for silver dollars, others might collect pennies or nickels.

All collectors have different desires and all collectors have their favorites, according to association members. One thing all collectors have in common is that they are always on the lookout for items to add to their collections.

During the NCCA coin and currency “Treasure Hunt,” collectors invite anyone with old coins and currency to attend the event. At the event collectors will examine and discuss your coins and currency dated 1964 and older. These collectors want to purchase items from the public.

Residents who agree to take the offer and sell their coins will be paid in cash, according to the association.

The types of items they are looking for include:

• All United States coins and currency dated 1792-1964;

• All foreign coins, all dates;

• Any silver dollars, dated 1792-1976;

• Wheat pennies;

• 90 percent silver bullion;

• Kennedy half dollars;

• Washington quarters;

• Roosevelt dimes;

• Buffalo nickels;

• All other coins dated 1964 and earlier.

Gold jewelry buyers will also be on site. Gold prices remain high and it’s a great time to sell it if you have it., the association said. Class rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, wedding sets, engagement rings — all have great value right now. Even dental gold will be purchased.

If you have diamonds you can bring them down as well. Diamonds are always sought after and very valuable. Bring diamonds of all sizes. If you have diamonds in your jewelry you will be paid for the gold and the diamonds.

These are serious buyers paying serious prices, the association said.
