Church News for Friday, Nov. 15, 2013

Corsicana — News and announcements submitted by area congregations throughout Navarro County.

Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ church family invites you to its Homecoming/Family and Friends Day 2013 on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at 3 p.m.  The guest speaker will be Evangelist Christie Lampkin Dobbins. Elder Dobbins was raised in the strict holiness culture of the Church of God in Christ where she experienced a rich Christian heritage of bold evangelism, sound biblical teaching, and loving pastoral care for God’s people. At the tender age of 7 years old, she received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Her “call to God” became evident a year later as she would recite sermons preached by her aunt, Evangelist Ruth White. Elder Dobbins comes from a long family legacy of women preachers dating back to the 1960s which includes her mother, the late Missionary Ima Lois Lampkin, and several aunts who are pastors and evangelists. At only 17 years of age, she lost her mother and brother in a fatal car accident. It would be this very incident that catapulted her faith to another level where she learned to trust God in the absence of family. Her passion to minister to broken, wounded, and hurting people was born out of this experience.  Armed with an abundance of both natural and spiritual education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Dallas Baptist University, where she is currently working toward her M.B.A., and a graduate of the Potter’s House School of Ministry, she is in demand by many churches, ministries, and women’s organizations as a celebrated speaker on issues of marriage, ministry, and family counseling.  In addition, she is the founder of “Christie’s Brunch” which provides a safe place for women to talk about real issues.  Currently, she assists her husband in leading a team of 125 ministers and elders at the Potter’s House of Dallas as well as serving as an instructor in The Potter’s House School of Ministry.

Elder Christie Dobbins and her husband, Elder Venshard Dobbins, reside in the beautiful city of Grapevine. Together, they share the call to ministry and are the proud parents of four children, John, Venshard Jr, Diemeary, and Joshua. Come and bless the Lord and be blessed by the Lord, Johnson Memorial COGIC 1600 South Business 45, Corsicana. For more information, please contact Sis. Rosie Williams at 903-879-3157.
