Drivers need to slow it down on Texas highways this weekend to allow for litter crews working the byways on Saturday. The statewide “Don’t Mess with Texas Trash Off,” is Saturday, and the Texas Department of Transportation expects to see about 7 million pounds of trash collected by more than 80,000 volunteers.
Those groups will be local “adopt-a-highway” groups, as well as students, probationers, and others. In the Dallas district, which includes Navarro County, more than 800 volunteers worked last year’s Trash Off event, collecting 1,638 bags of trash.
To volunteer, individuals and groups can register at www.ktb.org or call 1-800-CLEAN-TX.
